1. System Administrator /Network Administrator
The System Administrator/Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of all the servers within the organisation and also ensure the staple operation and control of the organisations computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring and maintaining access to the various servers. Other Functions carried out by the systems administrator/network administrator are as follows:
• Installation and configuration of all servers
• Ensure updates for all Server operating systems are current
• Maintain data security for all servers
• Install and maintain all software’s residing on the servers.
• Ensure proper connectivity to all servers.
• Ensure all servers are adequately backed up
• Monitor the use of hard disk space on all servers
• Provide regular reports on the status of all servers
• Ensure all servers are up 24x7
• Responsible for the creation of all user and email accounts within the organisation.
• Documentation of all servers
• Ensure optimum connectivity between all devices on the organisations computer network
• Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of all routers, switches and security devices within the network
• Ensure connectivity to all the organisations remote sites
• Installation and maintenance of the organisation’s network cabling infrastructure.
• Ensure the organisations network is properly secured from intruders
• Documentation of LAN and WAN
• Participates in the development of policies, procedures and resources in relation to the network.
• May assist in the design of the network.
PS* The System Administrator must be able to configure and manage Windows 2012 Server, Exchange 2013 Server within a Virtual Clustered Environment. Must also be able to manage SAN connected connected drives.
